DESIGN:
First discovered in Labrador, hypersthene is native to Canada. According to the indigenous Squamish people, the color of the stone comes from the lightning of "thunderbird," a legendary bird that produces thunder and lightning. And the legendary territory where hypersthene can be found includes Mount Cayley in Vancouver, a volcano now dormant is known as "the landing place of the bird that produces thunder," rich in magmatic stones with high iron and magnesium content.
Hypersthene is considered a protective stone, it creates calmness and shields from hectic external stimuli allowing the wearer to better organize their thoughts and find answers to their questions. Therefore it is great to meditate with.
Though it looks like a velvety labradorite, it actually is very different from labradorite. The beads I use for Cayley charm necklace are very lustrous and contain layered round streaks that give it depth. It is truly a unique stone and rare to come by. The Cayley necklace comes with an adjustable chain in a finish of 14K gold-filled or 925 sterling silver. It is great for everyday wear, perfect as a layering necklace or wearing on its own.
Handmade in Burlington, ON. Each gemstone was cleansed in a selenite bowl prior to the making of my jewelry.

CARE:
Hypersthene is a rather soft and gentle gemstone. Remove it before engaging in any activities that may cause it to take sharp blows and store it away from other jewelry that may scratch it. When getting dressed, put it on last and take it out first when undressing. Avoid using harsh chemicals and soaking in water. Hypersthene is best cleaned with a soft, damp cloth or cotton pad.
Gold-filled jewelry is made with 14K gold coating up to 100 times thicker than traditional gold-plating. Not only it is a less costly alternative to solid gold, but it is actually more durable. It is hypo-allergenic, water-resistant and will look shiny and new even with decades of wear. Clean your gold-filled jewelry with mild soap and water, then pat dry.
Sterling silver naturally oxidizes when exposed to humidity, perspiration, cosmetics and other chemicals. It is best to put your sterling silver jewelry on last and take it off first.
