Martenitsa (Marteniçka) - Giftable March bracelet

A March tradition from the Balkans: the red and white Martenitsa bracelet is a beautiful gift for you and your loved ones.

The Martenitsa a simple white and red yarn corn tied around the wrist. I've added a little lampwork glass evil eye and a colorful tassle. It is adjustable via another lampwork glass bead in the back and one size for all.  Although customs may differ around various parts of the Balkans and the Mediterranean, it is generally believed to be a reminder of the fragile cycle of life, and a bringer of luck and abundence to the wearer.

The Martenitsa is a temporary bracelet: You wear it until you see the first sign of spring. This could be a bird such as a stork or a swallow; or the first blossom on a tree. Then you make a wish and tie it to a spring branch. Here in Ontario, I usually wait for the cherry blossom season and tie it on sakura in May as that is usually considered to be a spring ritual in this part of the world. You do you ;)

As it is a gifting bracelet, the more you purchase, the more the price drops:

1 For $12, 3 for $30 and 5 for $45. (Discount is calculated at checkout.)

P.S. The little jump ring is sterling silver.

Care:
