Shamash was the Sumerian name for the Ancient Mesopotamian god of sun and divine justice. The famous Babylonian code of Hamurabbi, too, addresses Shamash by the name, and claims that he provided the humanity with law. He was the bringer of light, warmth and prosperity; helped those in need and gave life to the dead.

During the day, he'd cross the heavens on his chariot and during the night, he judged the underworld. Every morning, Shamash emerged from the doors in the east and every evening he rested in the underworld until he was awakened by his wife at dawn to go back to his chariot.

The Shamash stretch bracelet is laden with golden sandalwood beads on one side, representing light and onyx beads on the other side, representing its lack of. Where they connect lies two tiger's eye stones that shine like the sun at dawn.

Shamash is part of my gender-free Flux collection. Click here to see the other pieces in this collection.

Care:
Sandalwood beads will absorb the natural smells and oils from your skin. They will age and change color in time. This is natural, it will still look great on you.

Clean your bracelet with mild soap and water, then dry with a soft cloth. Refrain from using chemicals, abrasives or heat. Do not clean in ultrasonic cleaners. Do not store them with other items that may scratch. Always put your jewelry on last when getting ready, after putting on lotions and perfumes and take off first when getting undressed.
